wesleyWesley McKain, President

My name is Wesley McKain and I’m a resident of Kansas City, KS. I joined the board of FreeWheels for Kids in December 2013. I joined the board because Kansas City kids need more opportunities for safe recreational activity. FreeWheels is training kids to be lifetime bike riders, and also working to create more positive cycling environment for everyone.

As Coordinator of the Healthy Communities Wyandotte coalition, I am fully aware how far our communities must go to make cycling fun and safe for kids. Additionally, our county ranks low in the State of Kansas for overall health outcomes. Low rates of physical activity, and a built environment designed solely for automobiles are two culprits. There is no organization in Wyandotte County tackling these issues like FreeWheels. I consider it an honor and a pleasure to co-create a healthier future for our community as a member of the board.

If you make it over to Kansas City, KS and want to chat about FreeWheels, feel free to meet me at El Camino Real (my favorite KCK restaurant) or Johnnie’s on Seventh (my favorite KCK bar).
